How often do you feel overwhelmed while sitting at your desk ?

For us, the sitting and standing in front of the computer was making us feel swamped – even stuck at times. We felt a lack of creative juices, experienced more distractions (how many times do the dogs really need to be let outside?), sensed higher stress levels, and felt caught in the “Groundhog” movie where everyday’s routine was on repeat.

So we needed to switch things up.

We decided to take our work on the road.
Polished Nichols was going to step away from our offices and explore some fun new atmospheres to help reduce stress and increase our productivity, creativity, and motivation.

Here are some of our favorite choices:
-Outside.
Simply sitting on our front or back porch or deck is magical. It’s the perfect place to soak up some sunshine and fresh air. Listen to the birds chirp. And lock in on our work amongst nature.

-Coffee shops and cafes.
Caffeine? Yes please! A cup of hot or iced coffee, hot tea, or a seasonal delight is a must in this business.
We love the warm atmosphere, coffee shop play lists, delicious bites, hustle and bustle of the venues.

-Out of town destinations.
Packing up our bags and hitting the highways grants us time to talk business and pleasure in the car, train, or plane. It also gives us a time to reset and experience a new state, town, atmosphere, and culture.

-Parks and recreational venues.
Take a walk and get those creative juices flowing. Pack a lunch and load up your work bag and find a picnic table or spot along a trial. Or conduct a walk and talk meeting at a park or green space.

Get out. It’s good for you and your mind.
By stepping away from your work or home office, you are allowing for personal and professional growth and broader perspectives. By experiencing new places and things, you are allowing your mind to think out of the box and focus on the task at hand.
